About
Twenty-five years of asking better questions
Sigourney Cantelo has spent her career on one side of the beauty industry or the other — writing about it, editing it, and eventually building the thing she wanted to read. What has not changed is the standard: recommend only what you would actually use.
The short version
Sigourney Cantelo is a beauty journalist and publisher based in Sydney. For six years she was Beauty & Health Director at Vogue Australia, where her work ran in the Australian edition and in Vogue titles internationally, including China, Korea and Portugal.
In 2014 she left to found Beauticate, an independent beauty, wellness and lifestyle publisher, and has edited it since.
It has grown outward from there. Beautiful Inside, the interview podcast, launched in 2024 and has run to 44 episodes. The Beauticate Collective brought in an invitation-only group of specialist editors and experts. In 2026 the shop opened alongside a full redesign of the site — twelve years after the first article, and the reason the recommendations in it carry.
Along the way she has hosted for beauty houses and department stores, appeared on television as a beauty expert, and written brand copy for companies whose products she already knew intimately, having spent fifteen years testing them.
